Terry and Judy Richard, lifelong residents of Port Barre, Louisiana, tragically passed away on Saturday, May 24, 2025. Their unexpected deaths have deeply affected the local community, where they were cherished for their warmth, dedication to family, and active involvement in community life.
A joint funeral service will be held on Tuesday, May 27, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Port Barre, officiated by Pastor Joe Jenkins. Visitation is scheduled at the same location from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service. Following the service, they will be laid to rest in the Sacred Heart Mausoleum in Port Barre.
Terry Richard, born on April 24, 1952, was a proud veteran of the United States Army and a recipient of the Medal of Honor. He was known for his unwavering dedication to his country and his family. Judy Barron Richard shared Terry’s commitment to family and community, and together they built a life centered around love, service, and faith. The couple had a passion for travel, exploring various parts of the United States, creating lasting memories along the way.
They are survived by their children: Megan Diaville (Kevin) of Port Barre, Monica Harvey (Jamie) of DeRidder, Louisiana, Michelle Love (Manor) of Opelousas, and Marcus Richard (Wendy) of Port Barre. Their legacy continues through their grandchildren: Fara Descant, Gage Harvey, Travis Lanclos, Caleb Diaville, Cassie Diaville, Kailey Richard, Kade Richard, Konner Richard, and Karter Richard; and great-grandchildren: Audrey Torian, Sabrina Descant, Rhett Lanclos, Tuff Lanclos, Landree Harvey, and Jamie Harvey.
Terry is also survived by his sisters: Linda Guillory of Lake Charles, Tammy Sanders (Pat) of Eunice, and Patricia Shaw (Mark) of Many, Louisiana. Judy is survived by her brother, Dale Barron (Cindy) of Port Barre, and sisters: Cheryl Leger (Leroy), Jackie Guidroz, Pat Gauthier (Bobby), and Pris LeJeune (Steven), all of Port Barre.
Terry was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Mary Eva Noel Richard, and brother-in-law, Edward Guillory. Judy was preceded in death by her parents, Lennis and Bernice Barron, brother, Nelson Barron, and sisters, Linda Stermer and Bridget Quebedeaux .
